Common Tree Removal Scenarios
A dead tree is one that has lost its living tissue and structural strength, and on a King City property it’s a hazard as it decays and spreads pests to nearby trees.
A dead tree near a home is a safety concern best addressed before severe weather.
Private-property removal here is generally straightforward, with rules mainly affecting street trees and development. Monkeyman’s confirms the condition and removes it cleanly.

The owner is responsible for safe removal when a tree endangers property.

A diseased tree carries an infection that weakens it from within. The area’s damp climate fosters root rot, heart rot, and Verticillium wilt.
These infections are hard to detect early and can spread.
Monkeyman’s ISA Certified Arborists diagnose, contain, and remove trees beyond saving.
A storm-damaged tree has been cracked, split, or uprooted by wind, ice, or debris. Storms damage King City trees.
More than 50% crown loss usually means removal, though resilient trees often survive.
Monkeyman’s evaluates survivability before recommending removal.
Emergency tree removal is the 24/7 response needed when a tree has fallen, or threatens to, onto a home, vehicle, or power line.
For hazardous removals, Monkeyman’s uses crane support through Smith Crane.

FAQ
Yes, regularly. We coordinate with the association on common-area work, provide written scopes and Certificates of Insurance for board approval, and schedule so crews and equipment aren’t disruptive. For individual residents, we handle the paperwork the HOA requires rather than leaving you to chase approvals.
Very likely, and it’s the more relevant question than the city permit for most residents here. Community CC&Rs commonly govern removals, replacement planting, and even significant pruning. Check with the association first — and tell us what they’ve approved so our scope matches it exactly.
Yes. Compact lots with homes close together mean sectional rigging and careful equipment placement rather than felling. We use ground protection on lawns and drives, keep the work area contained, and clean up completely — which matters more, not less, on a small property.
Mature ornamentals and fruit trees that have outgrown their spacing, street and common-area trees needing clearance pruning, and larger firs near the Bull Mountain edge of the community. Much of the work here is maintenance pruning and hazard deadwood rather than full removals.
Yes, and it suits King City well. An annual or biannual pruning and inspection cycle keeps deadwood off the ground, catches problems while they’re still cheap, and means no one is arranging emergency service in January. We can set this up per household or across the community.
