Trusted tree care from Portland’s top-rated arborists, serving your neighborhood since 2008
Monkeyman’s Tree Service is a licensed tree care company (Oregon CCB #206934) based in Lake Oswego that has served the Portland metro area since 2008. Our ISA Certified Arborists handle tree trimming and pruning, tree removal, stump grinding, brush removal, land clearing, plant health care and 24-hour storm emergencies for homes and businesses within 25 miles of Portland. We are a four-time Best of Portland winner (2019–2022) with 868 Google reviews.
Every job starts with an on-site visit from a Certified Arborist, who checks the tree’s health and risk, explains your options and gives you a written estimate. If your city requires a tree permit, we tell you before any work is scheduled.
Most young trees benefit from structural pruning every 2–3 years, and most mature trees every 3–5 years, depending on species and site. Pruning follows the ANSI A300 standard, and we remove no more than needed to keep the tree healthy and safe.
Services you can receive from Monkeyman’s Tree Service throughout Portland and the surrounding areas include professional tree trimming and pruning. A healthy tree will continue to grow over the years. While this can look nice and provide shade for your property and outdoor space, eventually, it may become overgrown, and some branches could even pose a safety hazard. When this occurs, professional tree trimming and pruning are a good idea. The team from Monkeyman’s Tree Service will carefully trim branches and leaves to keep your trees healthy, safe, and looking their best.
While a healthy tree can live for a very long time, there are situations in which a tree could become sick, damaged, or structurally unsafe and need to be removed. When a tree is old or diseased, it may start losing its leaves and bark. It may also lose structural integrity, making it more likely to fall or drop large branches during a storm. When this happens at your property, Monkeyman’s Tree Service can safely remove the tree, stump, and branches.
An ISA Certified Arborist has passed the International Society of Arboriculture exam and keeps up continuing education in tree biology, pruning and safety. Our team includes owner Chris Ruvalcaba (ISA PN-9560AT, Tree Risk Assessment Qualified) and Josh Goode, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (MA 5752B), the highest ISA credential.
Monkeyman’s Tree Service is also a great company to work with when you need other arborist services. Beyond trimming and tree removal, this can include helping select and plant new trees, storm and emergency tree cleanup services, and even planning your yard’s tree and landscape plan.
